1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 e6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 a6 5. Bd3 Bc5

White plays the king's pawn to e4. Black pushes the c-pawn to c5. White develops the knight to f3.

Black moves the king's pawn to e6. White moves the queen's pawn to d4. Black captures on d4 with the c-pawn.

White captures with the knight on d4. Black moves the a-pawn to a6. White develops the light-squared bishop to d3.

Black develops the dark-squared bishop to c5.
